Learn to type without looking, one or two keys at a time. Each lesson takes 2β4 minutes. Accuracy first β speed comes on its own.
Spend the clacks you earn by playing. Nothing here changes your score β it's all about how Clack looks and sounds.
Pick a mode above START and just start typing β there's nothing to click into. A word advances the moment you type its last letter, right or wrong, so you never have to press Space. Backspace fixes a letter before the word ends, Space skips a word early, and Esc quits.
Click the setting next to START (like 60 seconds βΎ) to change the length, turn on ! punctuation, # numbers or β weak keys for time and words runs, and switch sound or the light/dark theme.
New to typing? Clack School teaches you to type without looking, one or two keys at a time. Each lesson has four short steps β meet the keys (glowing fingertip pads on the keyboard show which finger to use and where it reaches), drill the motion, type words made only from keys you know, then a scored check. A wrong key doesn't move you on, and Clack tells you which finger you used by mistake. Forgot where your hands go? Press β hand position under the keyboard to see the home position again (the clock pauses while you look).
Clack School is made for a full keyboard. On a computer, or a tablet with a keyboard, it works as is. On a tablet's on-screen keyboard the lessons work too β you just can't feel the bumps on F and J, so a real keyboard is better. On a phone you type with your thumbs, so the lessons don't apply: connect a keyboard or open clack on a computer.
Pass a lesson with 90% accuracy to unlock the next one; higher accuracy and speed earn up to three stars. The on-screen keyboard fades out while you're typing accurately, so you learn not to look. You can pin it if you'd rather keep it.
Everyone gets the same 30 words each day. You get one official attempt β after that, the daily card on the home screen shows your score and a countdown to the next one, which unlocks at midnight. Play on consecutive days to build your daily streak.
Share your result as text (one square per word: π© clean, π¨ had a mistake), post it straight to π, or save a result card image.
There are three boards: the daily, 30s and 60s (time runs without punctuation, numbers or weak keys). Each shows every player's best run, with separate keyboard and phone lists so thumbs never race ten fingers. The 30s and 60s boards can show today, this week or all time.
To join, pick a name β no email, no password. Until you have one, Clack offers it after each game. Clack gives you a recovery code instead: it's the key to your name, so save it somewhere safe. Enter it on another device to sign in there, and your stats, clacks, badges and store items sync between them. You can change your name once every 60 days, and a name that's unused for six months is freed for someone else.
Scores aren't taken on trust: your keystrokes and their timing are sent, and the server replays the run to work out the wpm itself. Nothing leaves your device until you pick a name, and you can delete your name and scores at any time.
Challenge a friend, or a whole group chat. Play a 30s or 60s run, press β clack off on the results, pick a taunt and send the link. Everyone who opens it types the same words you did, racing your ghost β your actual run, replayed keystroke by keystroke, with two lanes at the top showing who's ahead.
Each clack off stays open for 24 hours, and everyone gets one attempt. The standings show every racer, and you keep a winβloss record against each friend. Lost? Hit rematch to send a new one back. Friends without a name can claim one right there, or race without one (their result isn't posted). The home screen tells you when someone new has raced you.
A clack off earns +10 clacks, and +15 more for beating the ghost. Like the boards, every run is replayed by the server, so the ghost can't be faked.
Clack tracks which keys you miss. Turn on β weak keys, or press practise these keys on the stats page, and most of your words will be packed with the letters you fumble most. Once a key has enough data and a miss rate of 5% or more, it counts as weak. These runs don't count toward your personal bests, because the words are harder on purpose.
WPM counts characters, not words. Every 5 correct keystrokes β spaces included β count as one "word". It's the standard typing-test measure, so long words and short words score fairly.
Accuracy is correct characters Γ· all characters typed. The faint number behind the word is your live wpm, and combo ΓN counts clean words in a row β one wrong letter resets it.
Words fall toward your ship. Type a word's first letter to lock on β you'll target the lowest word starting with that letter β then finish it to destroy it. A wrong letter drops the lock. Every word that reaches your base costs a life; lose them all and it's game over. Each word is worth 10 + its length in points. calm, normal and frenzy change speed, spawn rate and lives, and everything speeds up the longer you survive.
Need a breather? Press ββ at the top or Esc to pause. Everything stops, power-up timers too. Press any key (or tap) to carry on, or Esc again to quit.
On a phone, the game fits itself above the on-screen keyboard. Words fall at the same pace and arrive a little less often, so a smaller screen isn't harder. Close the keyboard or switch apps and it pauses β tap to keep playing.
Power-ups fall as glowing capsules marked "power-up". Type the name to grab it. Missing one never costs a life.
Timed power-ups run side by side, each with its own bar under the score. Grab one that's already running and it gets more time.
The home screen shows your day streak, this week (a green square for every day you practised) and this month's totals β tap it for stats, which has the full activity heatmap, your personal best for every mode, your wpm over time, and a keyboard that shows which keys you miss most. After each run, the results compare it with your average for that mode. The π ranked tag on the start bar means the run will count for the leaderboard.
Everything is saved in this browser, on this device. Pick a name (see the leaderboard above) and it syncs to your other devices too; without one, clearing this site's data resets it.
Clacks are Clack's currency. You earn them by playing: about 1 for every 25 correct characters in a typing run (runs need at least 15 seconds or 10 words), 1 per 20 shooter points, +20 for the daily with a bonus for your daily streak, +15 for a new personal best, and a one-off reward for every badge.
Spend them in the store:
A few items also need a badge before you can buy them. Everything is cosmetic β nothing you buy changes your score.
